The Boston Celtics won the Atlantic Division of the NBA Eastern Conference with 56 wins and 26 losses record. This sparked a buying frenzy for playoff Celtics tickets. It was good enough to put them 14 games ahead of the second place, which is the New York Knicks. The Celtics performed very well both at home (33-8) and on the road (23-18). As a result of their showing, they entered the playoffs as a 3rd seed behind the Chicago Bulls and the Miami Heat.

The Celtics easily defeated the New York Knicks, which were led by Carmelo Anthony and Amare Stoudamire, in the best of seven first round series. They made short work of the Knicks via a 4-0 shutout.  In the second round, which was yet another best of seven affair, they squared off with the Miami Heat who won their round fairly convincingly over the Philadelphia 76ers 4-1. Many fans purchased Celtics tickets to see them square off against the Heat’s fearsome trio: Lebron James, Dwayne Wade, and Chris Bosh. The Celtics found the Heat were too much for them, and they embarrassingly went down in a 4-1 defeat.

During the 2010 off season, the Boston Celtics wasted no time resigning both Paul Pierce and Ray Allen. These two players were part of the big trio that won them the 2008 NBA Championship. The team then went on to sign up two premiere big men, who were past their prime, in Shaquille and Jermaine O’Neal. Obtaining these superstars really sparked a huge interest in fans, as they flocked to our website to purchase their Celtics tickets. Together with starter Kendrick Perkins, the Celtics were expected to dominate middle with the addition of those two players. Curiously though towards the middle of the season during the February trading deadline, the Celtics traded Perkins and Nate Robinson to the Oklahoma City Thunders for Jeff Green and Nedad Krsitc in a move that raised many eyebrows.

As a result of that decision, the Celtics front line, especially the middle, had significantly weakened in spite of the presence of the two O’Neals. Both were clearly over the hill and lumbering players who were saddled with an assortment of injuries. The second round match up with the Miami Heat was a testament to that. Miami was a team that had no regular center; an advantage the Celtics could have exploited had Perkins was around. Rajon Rondo unfortunately suffered a Game 4 elbow injury that made him ineffective in Game 5 and the Boston Celtics season was over.

Despite of all these, the Boston Celtics original trio performed as expected with Paul Pierce leading the way with an average of 20.8 points per game (ppg). He was followed by Ray Allen with 18.9 ppg and Kevin Garnett’s 14.9 ppg. Rondo, on the other hand, averaged 14 ppg in the playoffs. The Celtics prized recruits in the middle performed very badly in the playoffs with Jermaine managed only to contribute 5.8 ppg and 4.2 rebounds, while Shaquille was only good for 1 ppg, no rebounds, and an average of 6 minutes of playing time. The numbers clearly shows that Perkin’s absence was the contributing factor as to why the team fared very badly under the basket. Lets hope that they can come back next year with a big named player that will really contributes towards each game. This will really gives fans a reason to cheer when they buy their Celtic tickets.
